Sabbath

It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD...Let him sit alone in silence, for the LORD has laid it on him. Lamentations 3:26, 28

Sabbath is relentlessly calling. Words written and spoken seem to resound with this rest. Sabbath is a time of waiting on Him, watching for Him and welcoming Him into every moment. In the quiet He comes. In the silence He speaks. Sabbath is living, breathing, impacting and inspiring.

Sabbath is complete sacrifice to know the Savior completely. Just as there was a sacrifice before entering into His Presence in the Holy of Holies, there is a sacrifice before I meet Him in the Sabbath Rest. God is arranging for more and more externals to “quiet” so the innermost will “listen” to Him. He is silencing the conversations and the connections. He is testing the priorities of choices. Life is reviewed as God is revealed.

All is to surrender in silence while waiting on Him. After much sacrifice, silence ushers in the reality of His beauty, love, and Presence that was previously crowded by distractions. Deeper love in the quieting of the mind, intimacy of the heart, and words of life.
Sabbath is not a vacation, but a journey. It’s not a retreat, but a relationship. It’s not segregated, but tapestrated. Hours of Him become a life of Us. It’s not just the absence of work, but the full Presence of Holiness.
Sabbath is rest and relationship: On that day, He rested from His work…to enjoy His workmanship. On this day, Sabbath is releasing my restraints to embrace His love. Sabbath is laying down all of who I am to embrace all of Who He is. ALL. Rest: be still. Relationship: know He is God.
